Jeff is currently a physicist in the Materials Science and Technology Division of Chemistry, Materials, and Life Sciences Directorate at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

His general research interests include: Hydrodynamics and turbulence, Laser-matter interaction physics, ICF target design, Laser experiment target design, Properties of materials under dynamic shock loading, Computational design of materials science experiments on lasers.

UNION EXPERIENCE

PRESENT POSITION:
Elected Representative from LLNL Local (Society of Professionals, Scientists, and Engineers - SPSE) to the Executive Board of University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE-CWA Local 9119), 1/03-present.

HIGHLIGHTS OF UNION EXPERIENCE
AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
• Served as elected President of SPSE and led SPSE into its current affiliation with UPTE-CWA Local 9119.
• Served as Chair of the Membership Committee of SPSE and led a recruiting effort that resulted in a ~20% increase in membership.
• Continue to serve as Co-Chair of the Legislative and Political Committee of SPSE and Chair of the Labs Caucus of UPTE, and continue to direct UPTE’s efforts in lobbying Congress on all issues relating to the effects on the Laboratories’ workforce of the DOE’s bidding process for the Lab management contracts.
