Is retaliation for recognized union-related activity against the law?

We have heard that some supervisors and managers are discouraging employees from signing cards or talking about collective bargaining. If this has happens to you please call the SPSE-UPTE office and talk to Eileen Montano our Office Manager at 925-449-4846. We may need to remind Lab management that signing a petition or card to get collective bargaining is a protected activity under California and Federal law. If you contact us your name and your supervisors name will be kept confidential.

Retaliation

Until September 2007, we work for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as employees of the University of California as public employees and labor laws apply under the Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA). You can read about the laws under HEERA.

In October 2007, we will work for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory as employees of the LLC as private employees and labor laws apply under the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). You can read about the laws under NLRB.

“I became a union activist to make the Lab a place where employees

don’t have to stand alone when they have problems, and a place

where we can have a say in our workplace.”
